I think the majority of Pac-12(9) schools leave for Big 10, Big 12, and/or become independents. Oregon State and Washington State will be left without a lifeline and will attempt to bring in other schools to the Pac-12(2) but won't have any success as schools won't want to pay exit fees to AAC or Mountain West to join an extinct Pac-2. OSU and WSU eventually find a home in the Mountain West.

I don't think the Pac-12 collapsing has a trickle down effect to the MVC but if schools are able to get out of the ACC Grant of Rights then it becomes a free for all. UNC, Clemson, Miami, FSU and a few others will be able to find a home in the Big 10 or SEC but the others will be scrambling. I can see a scenario where ACC schools like Pitt, Duke, Wake Forest, BC are left to form their own ACC Lite conference made up of east coast schools that are basketball first but have FBS football teams. UCONN joins the ACC Lite and sets off another round of dominoes with the Big East looking to add more basketball only schools.

The MWC merges with the Pac 12. Just Oregon State and Washington State.

Even with 4 schools left (5 more will more than likely leave), the PAC-12 still has the name cache. They will invite a number of MWC schools and/or a number of WAC schools and possibly Gonzaga to go to 12 or 14 schools. That will solidify them as the number 4 P5 conference because the ACC will begin to destabilize.

The Southwest Conference had name cache too. Where are they? There will no longer be a PAC conference unless the Mountain West decides to adopt the name. Stanford and Cal are not definitively spoken for in the Big 10 yet. There is some concern about the western schools of USC and UCLA wanting to bring them into the conference. I think Cal and Stanford are a good fit when you consider the academic as well as the athletic. However, there is some belief that the Big 10 might be more interested in a Virginia, UNC, or Florida State. The Big 10 already has the West Coast market with USC, UCLA, and maybe Washington and Oregon. There is no need to pursue to more California schools. Getting part of the growing Southeast market and Florida could be huge.

The Pac-12 is 1 of 5 conferences granted autonomy by the NCAA. There is no mechanism in NCAA by-laws to revoke autonomy. Every G5 school does not have access to autonomy unless they join one of the autonomous-5 charters.

I believe the B1G will get 4 more out west AND 4 more East before this is done with. This thing wont stop until 24

The Big East learned their lesson the last time when half the conference had football and half didn't. It's one thing having one school in Uconn with football but they won't want to repeat history and add 5 or 6 schools with football who will then have all the control of conference finances.
