That's good for ISU and for the league.

For the first time that I've been a fan, there could theoretically be reasonable optimism that Bradley and ISU could compete for the title in the same season.

(I get that Bradley has way more coming back than ISU, but in this era just getting Kinziger back gives ISU a huge leg up on almost everyone else).

Losing Connor sucks but keeping 2 of the 3 among Deen, Hickman, and Hannah is a win for Bradley. Top reserves returning too. HOTB is doing work. And if the rumored incoming transfer is a certain 2023 MVC Most-Improved team member we may not take a step back at all.

I think Bradley fans think said player is better than he is. He will help - no doubt - but he isn’t as good a player as Connor Hickman.

So far for Missouri State pickings are slim, but some day light peeking in. Davion Hill is staying, Alize Johnson's youngest brother sat last year while squaring away some academics , but he's a very athletic 6'2 . Nick Kramer the SLU transfer who had injury problems is coming back, he's a 6'3 shooter . Veteran role player 6'5 Raphe Ayres is likely back for his 6th or 7th year. There seems to be a good chance we may retain Damien Mayo 6'3 jr and Cesare Edwards 6'9 sr out of the portal. If so, that's 2-3 starters among that bunch. After that though it'll likely be 8-9 new Bears. We only had 1 frosh signed and he asked out of his LOI after Ford was fired.

Darius DeAveiro is also reportedly staying at Valpo. That makes 3 confirmed to be staying and still no activity in the portal. With the additions of McNair and Ellis next season. This will be a very different Valpo team than previous years.

Is there a realistic scenario where Indiana State uses some of the big money they raised to try to extend Schertz on a couple of their starters and is able to hold onto a couple of them? I’m sure there will be significant NIL opportunities for anyone who stays there.
