Not such a hot start in VB for Valley

Shocks begin by losing in 4 to New Mexico St at Northern Illinois. Shocks let a 20-14 lead in the 4th set get away and lost the set and match.

UNI got swept by Purdue @ Purdue: 23, 23, 18. First two sets were close, UNI had a lead fairly late in first one.. Gotta believe they'd of won this one, or at least a couple of sets, if Bre Payton was still playing

Creighton won in 4 over Central Florida.

Illinois St went down to VCU in 4.

Bears play Oklahoma at Norman right about now.

Bears lost in 4 to OU and play Tulsa today at 10:00. Tulsa is probably stronger than OU.

was rather disappointing seeing UNI give up late leads in those first two sets. But they were playing the #9 team in the nation against a packed house of hostile fans, in the first match of the season with a new setter, so I can't fault them TOO much.

 Yeah, exhausting your eligibility usually has a negative effect on your ability to keep playing.

WSU starts off the week on a much better foot, defeating the #24 Colorado State Bears 3-1 last night.

I was simply making an implied statement about how much Payton meant to the UNI program over the 3 plus years she played.
