CORVALLIS, Ore. - Illinois State (3-0) beat host Oregon State (0-3), 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18) to win the Corvallis Invitational as the only team to win all three matches. Illinois State is 3-0 to start a season for the first time since 1992, when the Redbirds started the year 6-0.

I was at the CU vs Kansas match (free tickets)...it could be a long year for CU v-ball. Way too many unforced errors...disturbing amount of service errors. CU is young though as I can only remember only one or two seniors listed on the roster.

Eddie, Jays still were pre-season #4, even after the news that Bloemke wouldn't be able to play, so the common view among Valley coaches, etc is that it's a good program. Shocks also had a disturbing number of service errors throughout the OU tourney they played in last weekend. 1st matches of the year, those things happen, esp if you're not a very experienced team.

PS: On a side note, Danny Manning was in attendance on Saturday. His daughter is on the KU v-ball team. She did not play on Friday or Saturday but Danny made the trip. I am wondering if he may have been up here for other reasons...maybe to check out Akoy Agau from Omaha Central?
