Averaged 2.8 ppg last year; but is a decent 3 pt threat shooting about 37% last year and about 47% the year before when he averaged 4.8 ppg.

He had a concussion last season which limited his playing time and performance. He looked pretty good a couple years ago when playing for Iowa. He was heavily recruited by mid majors out of high school.

GREAT get for Drake! Maybe they'll recover from being jilted by Medved sooner than some may think.

I like DeVries, he'll do as well as you can do at Drake.

However,

BRADY ELLINGSON SUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKSSSS.

He and the kid from UAB won't embarrass you in the Valley but they're hardly players you can legitimately win with. I get it, Darian had to have warm bodies.

I actually like the move by Drake to take 2 Grad transfers, because let's be honest at this point in the game, who are you really going to get as a late Spring Recruit. This move gives Drake a chance to recruit kids for a year and get (hopefully) much better players next fall. Didn't Drake have like 5 rides to give out with all the seniors that were graduating?

What Darian needed badly was to balance the classes that Giacoletti had completely f'd up (how do you end up with 5 guards in the senior class and no players at all in the sophomore class?)

He intended to go out and get a couple of grad transfers and 2-3 jucos to balance the classes. It's hard to get really good grad transfers at this level, but all those guys are WAAAAY over-recruited. If nothing else, it help balance the classes and they'll contribute more than an open scholarship. I can see Norton starting and Ellingson contributing as a spot shooter.

Drake still has (at least) 7 more slots to fill.

Good luck on balancing classes. UNI still hasn't done that from the Sam Weaver years. We've got 6 (maybe 7 depending on whether Goldman gets a year back) in this year's junior class. It's a race that you run and run but just can't ever seem to win.

The Valley is better off with Drake being good so I hope it happens, I think you've FINALLY got the right guy to do it. At worst, he WANTS to be there and will add some stability.
