BEARS TO ADD SOUTH FLORIDA TRANSFER

Postby BEARZ77 » June 13th, 2018, 4:19 pm

It's unconfirmed but appears the Bears have landed South Florida transfer forward Tulio Da Silva, a 6'8, 210lb PF . Da Silva visited the past weekend and is now appearing on the summer league roster in Springfield at The Courts. Da Silva was an ESPN 4* player out of HS and a 247 Sports top 100. He started as a freshman at USF and averaged 10ppg and 7rbs. But last year under a new coach[ Brian Gregory] his role changed and he and USF parted ways in January 2018. Da Silva was a nonqualifier as a freshman and it appears he will RS this year, then hope to get 2 years eligibility with the Bears.

Bears were also hosting a potential grad transfer guard from Texas Tech today, who if he transfers will be immediately eligible this year. Not sure how serious that is, but will know in a couple days.

As indicated the Bears will announce the addition of DaSilva and also Texas Tech Grad Transfer 6'4 PG Josh Webster this week. DaSilva will RS and hopefully get two years with the Bears, while Webster will be immediately eligible. That closes out the Bears recruiting for 2018 [ probably] Webster didn't play much as a jr at Tech last year, but as a sophomore at South Plains Juco led his team to a 3rd place national finish averaging 9ppg and 7 assists with a 4.4/1 assist to turnover ratio. Will compete for starting PG role with returnees Dixon and Lawrence.

Just some clarification on all the Bear's recent activity; it's been a bit crazy. The Bear's have commitments from 3 transfers, Tulio DaSilva, 6'7 PF from South Florida, Josh Webster, 6'4 PG from Texas Tech, and Josh Hall, 6'6 G from Nevada. Both Hall and DaSilva will sit a year, but Webster is a Grad Transfer and will play immediately. I saw him listed as a 2019 on the Bradley Board , but that's incorrect.

Darnell Butler a juco add this spring has asked out of his commitment and was granted such, and soph guard Mustafa Lawrence also is transferring out, which when everything is said and done leaves the Bears still with one open scholy for 2018. Abdul Fofana one of the two cryo victims[ the other Reggie Scurry transferred to Middle Tenn St] will be on medical RS this year.

We have 3 seniors plus the grad transfer Webster, so that is 4 scholys currently for 2019 , 2 of which are committed to 6'4 Jamonta Black and 6'6 Ty Freeman.

Are the two Polish forwards MSU signed for 2018 or 2019?

They'll play this year. Of the two, Szymon Wojcik is the more skilled at this point in his development. He's pretty fluid for 6'10 and can really shoot the ball from the trey line. He and brother Jan, along with rs freshman 6'11 Darrian Scott will have to provide minutes along the frontline behind Ridder and Church.
