The 6-foot Allen is a wide receiver/kick returner in football and a guard in basketball. He will practice with ISU basketball during the second semester but will not be eligible to play until the 2011-12 season.
Allen averaged 25 points as a junior to lead Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School to a Missouri state championship. He saw limited action in nine games as a freshman at Minnesota but is not on the basketball team this season.
On the gridiron, Allen caught five passes for 45 yards as a freshman and 16 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown this fall. He has averaged 12.2 yards on 10 career punt returns.
