Oklahoma vs Missouri State has been moved up one week. Game now scheduled for Aug 29.

The Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday announced they have moved the season opener against Missouri State to Aug. 29, one week earlier than scheduled.

The NCAA approved a waiver request from both schools to move the game -- originally scheduled for Sept. 5 -- to allow for scheduling flexibility in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Missouri Valley Conference announced Friday it will not play this fall, opting for an eight-game conference schedule in the spring.

League schools are still allowed to play nonconference games in the fall.

The Bears start the Bobby Petrino era this Saturday 9/12 with a 6:00 pm kickoff in Norman Oklahoma. Pretty daunting start ; there will be fans in the stands , albeit a reduced number. I don't expect the Bears to challenge a top 10 FBS program, and can't expect too much given a total rebuild of a program during a pandemic, but Petrino has done a good job of bringing in some higher level talent. If the Bears are ever going to be decent in football, the next couple years are the best chance we'll probably have for that.

Game available via Sooner pay for view options, but they're charging their football starved fans $55 for the game ; thankfully MSU is sponsoring a free watch party at JQH for those comfortable with a socially distanced indoor seating arrangement.

Have to give credit to OU for working with MSU to make this still happen and we get a $600,000 payout.

Bears escape with a 48-0 thrashing, but $600,000 . Hard to do much evaluation with such a program disparity. Will be interesting when we play H/H vs Central Arkansas yet this fall; better read for what Petrino is doing.
