Which is funny because SDSU plays them in 2012! Of course by that time Kansas will have righted the ship. Right? No takers on that?

Kansas must be very, very bad this year. Very bad. I hope Turner Gill has a "Plan "B" in the works. Coaching at Kansas may have killed his career. Oh well, next year, the Big XII becomes another WAC, Kansas might fit in.

Games like this just go to show that despite all of the money, the differences between the haves and the have nots just really isn't that big, at least in terms of competition.

Not really. In terns of football this year, Kansas is a have not. They had a season go way south on them last year. Their stars graduated, with the coaching turmoil, players quit and recruiting came to a complete standstill. Eventually, the coach was fired. You now have a new, young coach trying to duct tape the program back together. They appear to be much further back than I imagined. They may only win one or two games all year. Conversely, you have NDSU, a very good 1-AA program. If there were to be a 1-AA beating a 1-A, this would be it. And with all that, the win is still considered an upset.

In terms of football, Kansas is not remotely a have. They pretended for a couple of years, but they are hardly a have. In fact, during the recent conference realignment fiasco, Kansas, the big basketball power that they are, was just about orphaned. None of the real haves gave two cents about the University of Kansas. They still don't.

You might have to go to Rock Chalk land if you want somebody to bite?

This is more true than I realized. KU might be the worst team in the Big XII, but I was still surprised at the outcome. ESPN Big XII blogger wrote a good article on the the game and points out the issues Gill faces at KU this year: http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/ ... ndict-gill

Before the game, John explains to us all how badly KU will beat NDSU. After the game, he explains to us all how bad Kansas is.

I'd love to hear your commentary on the Jacksonville St win over Ole Miss as well.

NDSU may be considered a very good 1-AA/FCS program someday, but they have yet to make the playoffs or finish in the top tier of their conference at that level.

As for the have/have not issue, let's compare the football budgets of the two schools... That's what I'm talking about.

The point I'm trying to make it that money isn't always everything in college sports. We see that more and more each year in basketball, and it's starting to prove true in football as well.

But I do agree that Kansas is going to really stink up the Big XII this year.
