Because things are being purported as facts when they are not, in order to fit a narrative that is not accurate.

Do you honestly believe without the Koch's the university could have kept Marshall at $3-million per season as an MVC team or have a mens basketball budget 3x higher than any other MVC team? Come on. Everyone has backers but that is serious backer money. Are there THAT many more rich people in Wichita than anywhere else in the United States? You cant be that naïve. Where there is smoke there usually is fire. It's the Koch's. it may not go directly to the athletics department but it ends up there, more specifically in Marshall's personal bank account.

I mean, if we want to "clarify" by stating that those darned billionaires saved WSU's bacon by subsidizing roughly ~5% of our coach's salary at a critical moment a couple years ago, coupled with a one-time gift of $6 million to kickstart the arena renovation 15 years ago, with little in between, then go for it. That would be a stark difference from the lies that are repeated regularly to the contrary.

It's a lot more fun to incorrectly characterize it as a daddy warbucks relationship, though, and I get that. The redbird fan above already stated he does not care about facts, evidence or the truth with regard to how he views the financial backing of WSU.

No the Kochs aren't outrageously huge yearly givers to the athletic fund of the school.

However, they are huge givers as an EMERGENCY FUND for the University. Like when Alabama offered $4 million+ per year and the Kochs came to the rescue by giving Marshall that huge raise.

There are 9 (now 10) other members in the MVC that lose that coach after a $4 million+ offer comes in. Koch's kept Marshall around a few years ago. There was an article I posted that explained they lead the charge in keeping him there after Alabama showed him the $$$$.

Denying this fact is ignorant. The emergency fund is alive and well.

Spreading 'info' that you know nothing about is beyond ignorant. It's just making stuff up to fit whatever narrative you want that month.

Again dude? You have ignorance that you don't think they had a HUGE HUGE HUGE IMPACT on keeping him here. We already had this argument....

WTF is wrong with billionaire brothers forking over the cash to help keep him around after Alabama came calling. Provide me evidence that when this happened the "Koch Emergency Fund" did NOT kick in and it was the money trees that they grow in Wichita that gave him his new contract.

We had this argument, and you stated that you didn't care about the facts. Something that you are reiterating again this time around.

Show me evidence Kochs only forked over roughly 5% of his increased salary after Alabama. You guys talk like they did nothing, we talk like they did. Nobody has shown factual evidence of how much was contributed. Regardless, this should not be an argument, but Wichita fans seem butt hurt that we would even THINK WSU's billionaire alums are helping fund Marshall's latest salary bump.

God forbid.

If ISUr had a big sugar daddy like that, I would not be so defensive about it.

Over the last 50 years, WSU's home attendance has dipped below 6,000 fans per game exactly once (1993-94, 5,982 per game) despite sucking eggs for the entirety of the 90s along with other less severe dry spells. Evidence is available on P. 173 of the Factbook available here: http://goshockers.com/sports/2015/11/12 ... path=m_bkb

The institutional support necessary to have a large budget does not require massive leaps of faith when assessed in the context of this attendance (which, for decades, has generally required mandatory SASO contributions, which are astronomical when we are good, just for the right to buy season tickets) and support.

Charles is a nice ace in the hole but he has been rarely tapped and was completely invisible until Jim Schaus and Mark Turgeon came on the scene. Since then, his cameos, while greatly appreciated, still make up a miniscule percentage of WSU's support.

Let me help you....I just asked you to provide me evidence (which is nearly the same as facts) of how much they did contribute. I just bolded and underlined it in my message above to help you read the whole thing.
