Bradley covers the spread against Valpo, 80-71. Valpo played well but it wasn't enough. They'll win some games, though.

He's got my vote. My goodness what a difference. What a turnaround and you know what? Good for Drake. I can't think of a fanbase that deserves this more than they do after all they've been through. I hope he's in Des Moines for a good long time.

Hard work paying off for the Bulldogs. Good hustle, good shooting. Good inside play. Good coaching.

Having Reed Timmer around doesn't seem to hurt things either.

It was a very slow paced game with a ton of fouls (55 to be exact) and issues with the refs for both teams. VU definitely has a couple of solid players. I think they just need better support for those players.

Stats of interest

VU 36.4% from the arc but only 32.8% from the field.
BU out rebounded VU 45 to 30
VU, a team that averages 17 turnovers/game, had 11 turnovers. They forced 17 BU turnovers.
VU's T. Walker goes 10-10 from the charity line, 3-8 from 3, and 25 points
BU's D. Brown was held to 12 points and shot 33%

Overall, it was a slow paced game and both teams seemed to trade baskets for the majority of the game.

Reed became Drake's #2 all time scorer tonight. Reed is an all around great player always hustles, gets to the rim and finishes a good percentage of the time. He is an over all team leader.

He really is a hell of a player and plays the game the right way. He should be a 1st teamer this year. That said, of what I watched of the game, I could not believe the lack of defensive responsibility ILS had toward Timmer. Dude will kill you if you continually help off or are slow on rotations.

Drake is undoubtedly the surprise so far, and with all the randomness of this league they certainly have a shot to contend. I would expect teams to make some adjustments in how they are being played, so we will see if Niko can counter those adjustments.

In a matchup of coaching legends in Carbondale, Southern Illinois slid by Evansville 65-63.

Since the fanbases at both schools are not happy with their current coaches, I will make an offer to my Saluki friends..we trade coaches straight up...Hucky for Husky.

Barry may not win any more games here, but his antics and press conferences should be entertaining enough that we are able to get a few more bodies into the Ford Center..and for Southern, having Simmons in town will insure at least 3 new buffet restaurants opening up in Carbondale. If you are going to lose games, you might as well be fat and happy.

Coming into the game, I thought Drake had a decent chance. Never expected the complete dismantling that I saw. Drake was up 14 at half, and after the first few minutes of the second half, ISU never got closer than 15. Drake had an answer for every ISU bucket.

Timmer with 28.
De'Tae McMurray with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists
Nick McGlynn 11 points, 13 rebounds
Jalen Gibbs 12 points in 13 minutes
