Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

According to the SLU board, Josh Schertz followed Ross Chaifetz today. His assistants made some SLU-related follows.
I get it - SLU pays like a Big East school ($2.5 million) - but it's awful they're doing this now when theoretically Indiana State could be in the NCAA Tournament in 48 hours and go on a historic run.
I really hate mindless speculation before a season ends, but Schertz and his assistants have brought this on themselves.

It’s also weird that people track this kind of thing.

He'd be insane not to leave. Just because they had the year they had doesn't mean that Indiana State isn't a bottom 3 job in this league with a tire fire of an administration.
He's going to, at least, triple his salary and have a budget where he can compete year in, year out.

How good would St Louis be if he takes his top player’s with him.

Larry, Avila, Swope and Conwell win the A10 easily. That league isn't any better than this one.

There's still Dayton, Loyola, Richmond and VCU. It won't be a cakewalk.
Anyway, who's to say ISUb won't be able to come up with the money to keep him? I'm not!

There will certainly be many people here more informed than me on the internal politics at Indiana State, but seems noteworthy to mention that their AD that hired him unceremoniously stepped down. I am left to assume that Indiana State is particularly poorly positioned at the moment to take advantage of the window of opportunity and organize resources to retain him, even if he were emotionally inclined to stay a year and try to keep the band together and see where that puts him one year from now. Many coaches that see their AD take a fall in the middle of a historic season would not be emotionally inclined to stick around.

ISUb doesn't have the budget to compete with SLU, and they don't see to have the administrative backbone to be organized right now.
Everyone seems to hate their outgoing Pres and their AD is leaving. HCJS seems to have the basketball program thriving, in spite of the other admin issues facing that school (0 offense meant to any Trees fans).
