Bears vs Shocks

Postby pawball » October 1st, 2010, 1:08 am

Big game coming up Saturday. Teams are neck n neck in RPI. Shocks need to lose in order to keep the status quo. Both teams have had ample time to scout each other. Shock fans: any info???

I can give you this about the Bears: They have been a Jekyl and Hyde team, very good when good, awful when bad. Best thing for Bears: Stokes is going with a lineup she has confidence in.

Should be a great match.

Where'd you find the updated RPI?

the NCAA site only has last year's final RPI.

But in any case, I agree. MSU/WSU is almost always a great vb match.

I got it from a poster on the Bearmania board. How he/she got it, don't know.

Should be a very close match. WSU has had some brilliant moments, but has not yet been able to claim consistency. Seems they are continuing to improve with each match though, and finding more of a rhythm offensively which has been where most of their inconsistency has been. The newer players are getting more comfortable, and Coach Lamb is finding the most effective lineups.

I'm thinking that they are perhaps confusing RPI (the power index used by the NCAA) with RKPI (the power index formulated by Rich Kern, or at least his website).

Similar, but not the same. I don't believe the official RPI has been released yet this season, but MSU and WSU are #29 and #30 in the RKPI.

I bet you are right and that the RkPI isn't far off. Main thang to keep in mind with the RPI stuff is that home wins don't mean as much as road wins, or, vv, home loses count more than road losses. Any way you cut it, if The Valley really has 6-7 teams in the Top 60, chances of having 2-4 teams in the NCAA's are looking doable.
