Bradley accepts bid to play in CIT

Not sure how I feel about this event, especially the way Bradley finished this year, but we accepted a big to the CIT and will host a home game next Wednesday night:

CU did CBI and CIT. Got some great games out of the deal. Good experience with the lose and you're done mentality, yet not really the pressure of the NCAAs. Embrace it and enjoy the games.

Perfect opportunity to keep building. I think its a good idea for a coach in his second year.

When Creighton was in the CBI a few years ago and went to the championship against Oregon, it was during this whole run that I thought Creighton developed great offensive tempo and scoring and it carried over onto the next year.

Exactly the same thing with Bears when we were in CIT (and won it) 3 years ago. The year after that we won the conference. We went every game and had a great time. Enjoy!

Bradley played in the title games of the inaugurals of both the CBI (2008) and CIT (2009) and it did jack for future prospects. All it did was pad the record with home games vs mediocre opponents so Les' apologists could throw the "consecutive 20 win seasons" argument around. Thankfully, in 2010 BU turned down a bid, otherwise we may have reached 20 wins again and maintained what was an illusion of success.

This instance is different though, because the program is on its way up instead of down (NCAA Sweet 16 -> NIT second round -> CBI -> CIT), and this is a team nobody expected to finish .500. For an overachieving and/or young team, it's not a bad idea, but back then it was just sad.

Wow, they have already announced the opponent for next Wednesday. Bradley will be playing Wisconsin Green Bay next Wednesday. This is the same team that lost @Drake in the bracket buster by 17. They also lost to SIU in Mid December by 2. They went 2-1 against UIC which is the team Bradley beat in the bracketbuster. Should be an ok match-up that Bradley should win.

Oh, and the game is being played at the on campus arena, not the civic center.

That's not that surprising to me. These games can be good for development, but are not going to create a lot of interest outside of the school's diehards. Treat them for what they are, use them as a stepping stone for the next year with a focus on playing the non-seniors as much as possible, and don't expect people not associated with Bradley to care all that much.
