BEARS LAND JUCO GUARD

Ronnie Rousseau of State Fair CC has given a verbal to MSU. Rousseau who averaged 23 ppg played at Vincennes the previous year and hails from Cincy where as a senior in HS was ranked the #1 player in the metro area and # 3 player in the state of Ohio. Good get for the Bears.

Good get! Need a replacement for Boone.

Already signed Alize Johnson, 6'8 from Frank Phillips College. Averaged 16 ppg, 12 rbs, shot 58% fg and 42% 3pt. A more mobile and athletic player than Boone. Probably will start along with Church and Kendrix along the front line. Not a big, but a very athletic front line. Still have 6'8 Martin and 6'10 McCullough along with 6'7 Robin Thompson for depth and muscle. Have also signed 6'7 juco Rhodes , but he is more a small forward three point threat. Might still add another 4/5 type.

Rousseau is tearing it up in ProAm summer league. Competition is inconsistent but does include enough former D-1 and current D-2 players along with the Bears being limited to only 2 players per team to see him going against legitimate defenders individually if not team wise. He's a very efficient scorer with great handles and vision. Fellow recruits Jarrid Rhodes 6'6 and Alize Johnson 6'8 also looking like they will help. Rhodes is very thin, but has nice shot and skills and will probably backup Kendrix at the 3 spot, while Johnson has a very nice skill set for a 6'8 kid. A stretch 4 type who can really handle the ball and pass for his size, can step out and hit a trey, and rebounds well. Not a inside defensive force, but conversely a tough defensive assignment for anyone his size. Boogie Williams 6'6 freshman guard is rehabbing from a hernia operation and will probably not be available until practice starts. Doubt he makes the summer trip , so his role in the coming year is very much undetermined.

Sure thing; like our guys, but have no idea if Lusk can take advantage of the talent on hand. Should be an interesting year.

I know he is sick but is there a reason Gregg Williams isn't listed on the 2016-17 MSU roster?

Not here so he hasn't enrolled yet. Had hernia surgery and is in Texas rehabbing. Won't make the summer trip, but is supposed to be good to go in the fall.

Not that it means much, but Rousseau put up 70 pts with 14 treys in a proam league game last night. Score was about 130-120 so absolutely no defense. But hey, lots of guys playing can't hit 14 treys in warm up.
