This might be the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen on here.

Nah, I think saying that Bradley will be competing for a Valley title next year (or even the year after) is probably the most ridiculous statement I've seen on here. My statement at least has some possibility of happening.

I said i was joking...

That is the point of my statement, the voters don't vote with good faith, they vote with bias (not all but enough to sway things around)

Idk how anyone could leave Marshall off of the top 3, I'll give you that.

But let's say, hypothetically, that Wichita finishes 16-2 this season and no other team finishes better than 12-6.

Let's also say, hyopthetically, (stay with me here) that Bradley finishes 11-7 (again...just a hypothetical...no one freak out).

I think Wardle would win COY in a landslide.

Why? Why not a coach that is replacing 2 All Americans that are now on NBA rosters, with ZERO scholarship seniors (as the start of the semester, John Robert doesn't count) and STILL wins the league by 4 games? Is the bar set so low for the rest of the league and get a team to mediocrity really what defines the Coach of the Year?

Now if Bradley manages to win the league even by 1 game or takes it down to the last week, then yes he should. But I don't see why we should award mediocrity.

Aundre Jackson at LUC is one to keep an eye on. Shooting 75% from the field, and doing it consistently regardless of opponent.

Agreed, he's a very pleasant Surprise (along with LUC as a whole) this year

Zero reason to leave Marshall off of the top 3 in any ballot in the last few years, that's for sure.

But chalk me up in the corner of not automatically giving the COY to the coach of the best team. Even if they win it by 3-4 games.

I think COY should go to the coach whose team performs the most above expectations heading into the season.

To me, the engraver is ready to put Marshall's name on the trophy unless another coach steps up and really outperforms expectations.

Should Northern Iowa or Illinois State (or someone else) win the Valley... COY is theirs
Should a 4th-6th preseason ranked team come in 2nd only 1 game away from winning the Valley? They're in strong consideration, and probably should get it.
Should a 7th-10th preseason ranked team come in 2nd or 3rd? Another very strong case, and I'd lean towards this coach for getting more out of his players than others.

Should none of those 3 happen above and Marshall wins another MVC title? It's his.

But it's not automatic.

The Missouri Valley Conference, ladies and gentlemen.

And then people act offended when WSU fans are desperate to find another league.

If you have set the expectations such that 16-2 and outpacing the field by 4 games is not good enough to earn COY, then they need to name the award after you and permanently disqualify you from winning it. Fans complain about WSU being 'high and mighty', but this is exactly the stuff that elevates WSU to that point. It's the other fans, coaches, media, and league representatives saying "you're not competing against WSU. You're competing to be the next best after that."

So WSU automatically starts behind the 8-ball every year because they recruit better and can never exceed expectations?
